Location report

Our original intention was to move somewhere near the Meditteranean coast, to take advantage of the sea. However, on talking to David Harris of French Property Renovation who knew the area well, he advised we look in the area to the North of Montpellier which was far more scenic, and represented better value. He advised that area near the beach tended to be crowded in summer and deserted in winter, whereas away from the coastal strip we could find the quintessential French village.

David cast our net in area surrounding the famous beauty spot of the Pic Saint Loup, and contacted local estate agents and notaires in the area. As luck would have it one notaire had received details of a property the day before, and we were informed that yhe owner would be putting in on the open market the following week.

FPR sent additional information about the local shops, the size of the village school, surrounding countryside etc., and it sounded perfect. They visited the property and reported on the state of the existing Bergerie, with an estimate of how much it would cost to rebuild. The photos that they sent were the most compelling reason for us to get on the earliest plane to view the property, which we did the following day. When we visited we instantly fell in love with the bergerie and surrounding countryside. There was even a horse in 'our' garden for God's sake !
